Whether you're a new stitcher or highly experienced, it's so much easier when you have the right cross stitch tools. While you can start stitching with as little as a needle, thread, and a bit of fabric, adding any of the available tools and gadgets will be sure to make your sewing life much easier
Essentials to help make stitching
Aida cloth is an open, even-weave fabric traditionally used for cross-stitch embroidery. This cotton fabric has a natural mesh that facilitates cross-stitching. We carry cotton and linen Aida cloth, 10-count through 22-count. Linen & Lugana 25-count through 40-count in a wide array of colors.
A hoop is a set of two rings - either wood or plastic - each ring fitting inside the other, holding the fabric taut while you stitch. The hoop usually has some hardware on it (a bolt for tightening) and is usually held in the hand.
A frame is made of wood or plastic, and the fabric is stretched taut and pinned, tacked, or sewn in some way into the frame. Frames are normally held on some kind of stand or propped on the edge of the table during stitching, unless they are small and light. There are several types of cross stitch frames. Frames are especially useful for reducing pain and relieve fatigue, especially when used with a stand so that the frame is free standing.
This unique frame is based on the simple concept of interchangeable lengths of PVC pipe which can be easily assembled to your required work size. Your fabric is rolled around the curve of the pipe with a clip. No more crinkling of your fabric in a hoop or staling it to a stretcher bar! The frame comes apart in seconds to store or to carry in practically any tote.
Rolaframe is a tool for cross stitching and other needlework. With its unique design, pinned rollers hold the full width of your fabric securely. The design of the end bars allows you to adjust how tightly they hold your rollers, so you are able advance your fabric as your project progresses.
With the lap or floor stand, you can work on your project without having to hold your frame at all as it will rest on the lap stand or the floor stand, hands free.
Unlike hoops or other frames you might come across, Rolaframe will not distort your work, leaving less ironing time when you complete your project. There's even a magnet to hold your needle while you're not actively stitching! Contact the Crafty Framer & Cross Stitch Store to order.
